4 Days Queen Elizabeth National Park And Fort Portal

Tour Overview

The park covers an area of about 1978 km2; it was named after Queen Elizabeth II visit in 1954. Its location provides a magnificent view of the rift valley floor that occupies Lake Edward and Gorge. The area was strategically located with a stunning view of Mount Rwenzori, the plains and the composite jagged mass of mountains that are good for activities such as hiking. Queen Elizabeth National Park has one of the highest bio diversity ratings of any national park in the world, over 500 different bird species and about 100 mammal species.

The grassland plains boast a variety of animals which can be viewed from a vehicle on the network of tracks designated in the park. Several are found in the park such as lions, leopards, side stripped jackal and spotted hyena among others. Common Antelopes species include the kob, bush buck, and water buck. Other animals which can even be found at Mweya peninsular are; Buffaloes, elephants, warthogs and hippos. There are also various primate species are available in the park including chimpanzees, red-tailed monkeys, blue monkey, black and white colobus monkey, olive baboons among others. The Ishasha sector is famously known for its tree climbing lions and it is also known to host a high concentration of hippos. 

DAY 1 – Transfer from Kampala to Queen Elizabeth

Depart with your guide from Kampala heading southwest to Queen Elizabeth National Park. You will enjoy a lot of sightseeing’s on the Masaka-Mbarara road including the traditional Ankole long  horned cattle, farmlands and numerous tea plantations. On your way you will make a famous stopover at the equator for photography You will have lunch in Mbarara at Igongo Cultual   center. Then proceed to Queen Elizabeth. En route you will pass via the two twin crater lakes in Bunyaruguru, a unique feature that shows two crater lakes that are separated by a small chunk of Land, Then continue to your lodge for dinner and overnight.

DAY 2 – Morning Game drive and A boat Cruise on Kazinga Channel

The day starts with a morning game drive at Kasenyi plains in the northern part of the park. Your drivers will pick you up very early in the morning at your lodge.  The game drive starts 6:30Am and lasts between 3-4 hours in hunt for the lions and other game. Depending on the luck of the day you may also be able to meet the leopards en-route. You will also see a variety of other game including elephants,  Cape  buffaloes,warthogs, leopards, spotted hyena, mongoose, waterbucks, Uganda kobs, and a lot of small animals and birds. Proceed to Kasenyi Salt Lake for relaxing views and photos after that long game drive. You can also be able to have a cup of coffee their and buy some souvenirs.

Drive to Tembo Restaurant for Lunch then. After lunch, you will drive to Mweya for the 3 pm boat cruise on Kazinga channel. This will be so exciting and breathtaking as you view schools of hippos, Elephants, Buffaloes, crocodiles and many animals on the banks plus water birds. Kazinga channel links the two big lakes of L. Edward and George. The trip takes 2 hours of exploration as you marvel and take photos of numerous game that come to bathe and drink water after a dehydrating hot day. Expect to see numerous water birds which grace the sand banks such as pelican’s cormorants, eagles, King Fisher and Egyptian bird. Some visitors consider this as the highlight of their trip! After this, you will drive back to your lodge for dinner and overnight.

DAY 3 – Visit the Semuliki National Park and Amabere Ganyina 

After breakfast at your Hotel at 7.30am Drive to Semuliki National Park. Check in at the park offices where you are to meet the park guides and set out to trek the Sempaya Hot Springs trail. Watch out for monkeys and birds along the trek. The springs eject boiling geysers 2 meters into the air. The pool boils at 103oC and to experiment the hotness of the water you will place eggs or bananas in the boiling water and indeed within 10 mins they will be ready to eat.

After returning from the Hot Springs trek that will last at least 2 hours (including time at the springs) then go to Fort Portal town for Lunch, After Lunch transfer to mabere ga Nyina Mwiru, The Amabere Ga Nyina Mwiru is a very significant tourist attraction and cultural site to the Batoro people. It carries a remarkable history and it is surrounded by remarkable vegetation that will take your breath away. From there, you will hike the Kyeganya hill to see the 3 crater lakes. While at the top of the hill, you will also get to view the spectacular Rwenzori mountain ranges.You will enjoy the hike with breathtaking scenes of the crater lakes surrounding area, cool natural breezes and photography. After an incredible excursion, return to your lodge. For Dinner and

DAY 4 – Transfer back to Kampala

You will rise up early for breakfast at 7:00 am and then prepare to checkout of Lodge at 7:30 am, Then you will hit the road back to Kampala but expecting to eat lunch on the way either in Kyenjojo or Mubende town. Then proceed to Kampala, you will be driven to your home/hotel.

Terms Of Payment

  1. All tours will be booked and confirmed only upon receipt of a 30% deposit of the basic program rate. For chimpanzee permits, a full advance payment of the permit fee is required in order to make the reservation.
  2. The payment balance should be cleared on the arrival date before the safari begins unless agreed otherwise.
  3. Bookings made within 2 days before arrival must be paid in full at the time of confirmation.
  4. If payment is not received in accordance with the above, Mizube Tours has the right to cancel the booking.
