Tour Overview
Enjoy an interesting 6-hour drive through three different types of vegetation. We will take you through the typical tropical countryside with large swamps, Mpanga Forest, and the Equator where you can make a brief stop-over and stride the northern and southern hemispheres! You will also drive through the flat savannah country where you are likely to observe the famous long-horned Ankole cows. You will also view the impressive hilly country of Kabale, popularly known as “the Switzerland of Uganda”, and arrive at Lake Bunyonyi, one of the deepest lakes in Africa. Inclusive is the zip lining along this wonderful lake.
Journey Time 6 Hours. Meals – Lunch, Dinner
After breakfast at your hotel in Kampala, our safari driver guide will meet you for the start of your safari to Lake Bunyonyi via Mbarara to Kabale South Western Uganda. This will be an interesting 6-hour drive through three different types of vegetation. The first two hours will take you through typical tropical countryside with large swamps, Mpanga Forest, and the Equator where you can make a brief stop-over and stride the northern and southern hemisphere! Thereafter, you will drive through the flat savannah country where you are likely to observe the famous long-horned Ankole cows. We shall make a lunch stop in Mbarara at Igongo Cultural Centre before continuing through the impressive hilly country of Kabale, popularly known as “the Switzerland of Uganda”, and arrive at Lake Bunyonyi, one of the deepest lakes in Africa, late afternoon.
In the early evening you will go for zip lining along this wonderful lake. Evening relaxation, dinner and overnight at the hotel as you prepare the activities the following day.
The lake has many islands such as Bushara, Punishment, and Bwama islands. We take a boat trip on the lake to discover these islands It’s a good place for relaxation and taking photos of western Uganda. Return to your Hotel for lunch. In the afternoon, take an excursion of the Island of the sky; a walk that will give you a more satisfying view of this lake and most of the Islands. Dinner and overnight at your Lodge.
After breakfast, start your day with an awesome birding experience on Bushara Island. This Island is good for birding as it is richly endowed with small birds thus the name Bunyonyi. You will then drive back to Kampala stopping in Mbarara town for lunch at Igongo Cultural Centre. Then proceed with your journey to Kampala arriving late afternoon.
